The slow death of handwriting
http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7907888.stm
the above article says that the future generations wont be able to read our handwriting as we will do everything on computer
I'm not sure that it is true as I take a lot of notes at work and use writing to remember stuff. However my hand writing is awful, always has been always will be.

Dinner party
James and Hannah hosted a dinner party last night
We had an extra thick veggie soup and Fresh bread, with ice cream for dessert
After that we played Cranium and we played truth to myth and found out crazy things like you nails don't keep growing when you dye and whales sleep vertically
An excellent evening with much merriment all round :)

Stu's tuesday challenge
here are last week's Blue entries
http://blog.pygmygoat.net/1512/#more-1512
there was quite a range of interpretations....all very blue
This week, the subject is absent from the frame. This could be for various reasons - location: your subject is present but off to one side of the frame; temporal: your subject was present but has now gone.
There should be sufficient clues in the frame that the viewer will have at least some idea about the subject, even if they don’t know its exact nature. Use shadows, gestures, lingering artefacts… whatever you can to give away as much as you can about your subject without showing it.
Good luck!
This may be tricky I think I will have to ponder it for a bit ...

Beer Art
Whilst at the pub last night, after going for a Birthday curry with Stu, we noticed that the beermats had a list of beer on them, thinking that this was the bottom side of the mat and that advert was on the other side we turn them over to find they were the same on the other side. After much discussion we decided that we should animate them ourselves, here is the first one drawn by Stu:
he has more at home, we were getting quite artistic, by the end of it. We didn't get the complete as the pen ran out :(

Ron Conducts Zero
Last night I saw a great but complicated play written by a student from Loughborough uni and featuring my Hubby, Wayne. see link for the out line
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=46942258366
There was a lots of laughs and a lots of complicated interactions that kept your mind alert , but my favourite parts were the Reservoir Dogs style torture scene ( genius) and the fact that apart from main scene there was always so something else going on on stage.
Overall a very original production, good cast good script and direction all round, big thumbs up from me

RSC
RSC - the Royal Society of Chemistry not the Royal Shakespeare Company
I am an active member of this group of people who have a interest in various aspects of science. my main aim is to try and encourage more of the young members (anyone below 35) to join in with the various RSC activities.
I have not been very successful yet...but there is stuff on the horizon
Yesterday I attended the regional meeting in Nottingham basically it was chance to ask questions about RSC politics, studies and events. then there is a chance for some social networking which is always useful
I learnt that there are people where I work that i can get tot help me with events and contacts at AZ and vectura
Most of the 'active members' are people i know, ex lecturers and old work folk
we have more people entering the chemistry and chem eng then in the last ten years
RSC will support you with careers and other stuff
and they do some really fun science, check out their blog ...www.rsc.org

Stu Tuesday challenge
He's behind you ...
Last night we had are annual visit to the Birstall men's pantomime to see this years production - Mother goose
That's right a male only cast, a chance for many of the men to wear a dress! Unfortunately I can't provide you with photo's as they where strictly prohibited.
In true local village pantomime style though they was late entrances , forgotten effects and many many forgotten lines and none of them where subtle, how ever the whole thing was very amusing and very cheesy which is great :)
I can't wait till next year...

Pub quiz
Every Monday night we go to the Swan in the Rushes for the bar v lounge (that the best side)
pub quiz
There is a match each week, first to 10 wins then there is a break for a few weeks and then it starts all over again
Well any way last night the score was 9:9 so it was a critical match, the tension was high and the pub was packed, the questions were hard
the result....
the bar won by two questions :(
Never mind though because we area round up 4 to the lounge and 3 to the bar and we will bet them next time
Until then it is dinner party season :)

St Valentine or St Raphael
I found this on the BBC
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7888539.stm
So if you single tomorrow is the day to pray for intervention from St Raphael http://www.straphael.net/saint-raphael-catholic-singles-patron.php - the patron saint of couples. The bonus is his saint day is the 28th of September, so if tomorrow is your lucky day then you have another chance on this day :)
If you are lucky you have found your soul mate (like me) then St Valentine http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=159 is the Saint for you and tomorrow you can pray for intervention to show appreciation to your partner, Spend time with them and remember all the good stuff they do for you.
I Will be spending some time with Wayne, remember the good things he does for me, like the dishes, coffee in bed and half the cooking. (to name a few)

Stu's Tuesday Challenge
Every Tuesday Stu set his readers a picture challenge:
"Allocate a time this week to the challenge. It can be a day, it can be ten minutes, as you wish. During the allocated time, you are allowed to take exactly one photo. No more. No “take a few and see which is best”. No “let’s try that from another angle”. Do everything in your power to get a good photo before you press the shutter. Press it, and send it in!"
So I thought I would join in with his challenge...I allocated Thursday evening to get a picture and decided that one of my cat would be a plan but is difficult as he has a tendency to move...as cats do. Lucky for me Guinness likes to sit on the stairs I managed to get this one after 10 minutes. I have cropped it and auto corrected the light (which is allowed) and here is my entry:
Not too bad I think ... I don't think Guinness liked the interruption though.
Will link to the other entries next week

Creating a blog
So... i thought I might try my hand at creating a blog.
Easy! I all here you say
That is what I thought, I looked on the Internet to see what was available. Found one I liked the look of, filled in the form and I am still waiting for the verification email ...24 hours and counting
And I know you will bethinking that I mistyped my email, so I filled in the form again with a second email address, double checked it, checked it again for luck...still no email (8 hours ago)
Then I stumbled across blogger and it was really easy ... Hopefully that was the teething problem out of the way.
