Eileen Maud Coventry

My Gran, Eileen, passed away peacefully this morning.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord And let perpetual light shine upon them her.

She was a wonderful women who welcomed everybody in to home and then feed them until they could escape out of the front door.

All thoughts, and prayers are with her children and family and and we will celebrate her life over the coming week.

  1. Hi Susan, this is your cousin Patricia in Canada. Tried googling your Gran's name and I found you - neat!
Aunty Eileen used to make pasties - sorry, teddy-oggies - that hung over the dinner plate at each end. She would put what you wanted by way of meat and veg (barring carrots, of course) in the pasty and she would put your initial on it.
She also made incredibly light saffron and yeast buns and no tea-time was complete without splits with jam and Rhodda's Cornish cream.
And she would hug and kiss and laugh and wear funny hats at the party and in earlier days do "Knees up Mother Brown" with a vengeance. And the 'Okey, Cokey. And in later years she would do funny things with her false teeth. And just like the rest of us when she got tired she would find it hard to stop giggling. And everyone loved her, loves her, in fact. And she was such a huge part of Home. And she has this wonderful family - children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren - and the rest of us, too. And those from my Mum's side of the family who are nevertheless her family. And yes now I'm crying which is good because I felt a bit numb before - and how long are comments supposed to be anyway?!
    To celebrate is the thing.
    Goodnight, my 'ansome.

  5. Hi Susan, This is Ivy part of her extended family. Eileen was always more of a sister than a sister-in-law of Pam's. We have so many wonderful memories, I can remember she was the first one I told when I was expecting Glen and she was so excited and told me then he would be a boy. Who needs scans!! I can still see and taste those marvelous cornish pasties and all the yummy cakes she made. Her memory will always be with us... God Bless you Eileen.... Rest in Peace
